The event was attended by a small delegation from NUS Business School, including Vice-Dean (Undergraduate studies) and Associate Professor Chng Chee Kiong

Each academic year, two Gold medals, along with cash prizes are awarded to two top students of the award. For Academic Year 2013/2014, the two recipients are Justin Zhang and Chia Guo Cong, who had received the Nexia TS Public Accounting Corporation Medal & Prize (Assurance & Attestation) and Nexia TS  Public Accounting Corporation Medal & Prize (Accountancy), respectively.

Earning such recognition awards for high academic scores mean a lot for students in their early careers. The two winners, Justin Zhang and Chia Guo Cong, expressed their gratitude to Nexia TS:

“I am greatly honoured to be the recipient of the Nexia TS Public Accounting Corporation Medal and Prize for Assurance and Attestation. I was really surprised by the news that I am a winner of the prize. I am greatly appreciative of the recognition you have given me with this award. This prize has no doubt provided a greater motivation in the pursuit of excellence, and I believe that it will do so for others who will receive the prize in future.” says Justin Zhang, third-year undergraduate accountancy student who wants to pursue a career in either tax or audit after graduation.

As part of the firm’s core values to contribute to the society at large, beyond the business domain, Nexia TS has been a strong supporter of education since 2008 and is determined to do its part to support and contribute in its capacity to the accountancy profession in its CSR program.

“We are always keen to encourage education and equipping others to learn. Believing that it is more effective to teach someone how to fish, supporting and investing in the students’ future is intrinsic to our firm’s ethos to give back to society we operate in. We will continue to support in whatever ways we can.”

Henry Tan, Managing Director, Nexia TS

“Your organisation is one of the most established mid-tier accounting firms in Singapore, spreading your footprint in the region. I admire and appreciate the fact that your organisation pays attention to the need in nurturing the next generation of leaders and professionals. I am deeply encouraged by your award, and I believe I am not alone in feeling this sense of gratitude and motivation. I hope to purchase textbooks and pursue further professional qualifications, in addition to reimbursing my tuition fees.” says Chia Guo Cong, fourth-year accountancy student, who echoes the same sentiment.

“On behalf of NUS Business School, I would like to express our deepest gratitude to you for your generous gift. Your gift serves as a strong inspiration to us in ensuring the best education for our students.”

Bernard Yeung, Dean and Stephen Riady Distinguished Professor, NUS Busines School
