Singapore, 5 September 2019 – 5 student entrepreneur teams, comprising of 20 students, competed for the top three positions in the Nexia TS 2nd Business Case Challenge. The challenge, which started in early May, was opened to students from Nanyang Technological University, Nanyang Business School, Singapore University of Social Sciences and the National University of Singapore.

Prior to this, a panel of judges with diverse backgrounds had carefully evaluated all business cases submitted based on a set of criteria including key product value proposition, marketing strategies and financial viability. Five promising teams were shortlisted to pitch at the final presentation round which was held on 29 August 2019.

The winning pitch, Vulture, seeks to increase audit firms’ efficiency by streamlining vouching, the process of authenticating the transactions recorded in a firm’s book of accounts.

In second place, Xenia aims to facilitate and expedite effective networking at professional events, enabling users to maximize their opportunities though a mobile-base application.

While, Flink in third place gives consumers access to discounted ready-to-eat meals and groceries and cuts down food waste by linking food merchants and consumers via a browse-and-buy mobile application.

“Having an innovative mindset and coming up with ideas are key in this changing and uncertain world. After the ideas are germinated, a strong business case needs to be built up and this is essential when it comes to securing funding and executing the business. Through the Business Case Challenge, we help aspiring student entrepreneurs strengthen their business case by giving them first-hand insights and professional business advice. Entrepreneurs with an innovative mindset are important to Singapore’s economy and we want to groom the next generation of leaders.” says Henry Tan.
